When I first started to study with him, I had trouble relaxing my hands–a must for a pianist. I tried and tried to relax, but I just couldn’t.

That shocked me. I guess when I quit trying, there was nothing preventing me from relaxing, so I relaxed. What a relief I felt. I didn’t think about relaxing anymore, and I guess my playing improved–at least he told me it did.
